yes. like many things, cold = contraction and hot = expansion. it shouldnt, but r the first signs of a problem. 1st take off all keys on your key ring except your car keys. the more weight ( charms, 100 keys, stuffed animals ect.) the more it will damage the cylinder as it is made from a soft metal(brass) damage is done now so replace the ign. switch w/ new key and save all of the bs charms for a neckless or something
Replace your ignition lock assembly.
The tumblers in the key cylinder have most likely become stuck in the wrong position and you will have to replace the ignition key cylinder.
To remove a key that is stuck in the ignition on a Peugeot 406 HDI, make sure that the car is in park. Then try to remove the key. If this does not work, spray the ignition mechanism with WD-40 after pulling out the key as far as possible. Then work the key in and out until it comes out.
is it a ford? push the key in further and then turn it
Probably a stuck solenoid.
how to remove key stuck in ignition switch in Chevy colbalt
When any car idles, it lowers the ignition energy (but not completely) to keep the car running. When it is cold outside, your Subaru's ignition energy is lost through heat because electricity also is measured through heat. When there is less ignition energy when it is already running on a lower ignition level, the car (your Subaru) is not likely to idle.
Well, it sounds like the chip that is in your key may have broke or got stuck on a part of the ignition. I had that problem. This happened not long after I had had to have the ignition replaced?!?

There should be a lock on the ignition a push button that you push and turn to remove the key
