This is one of the few items that I had to pay someone at the shop to take care of. I got all the way through removing the castle nut on the axle from the hub, but I could not for the life of me defeat the cir-clip that holds the CV axle on the transmission.
Pay the money for a mechanic to do this one for you.
YOu have to remove the brake caliper, rotor, ,take the nut off that holds the shaft, disconnect the strut, and lower control arm to get them out of the way. Loosen the shaft by putting a large screw driver between the transaxle and the half shaft and it should snap out. Replace in reverse order. NOTE: when inserting the new shaft make sure IT SNAPS firmly into place,,,try to pull it out by hand you shouldn't be able to. It's not a real difficult job but get yourself a Haynes Manual at an auto parts store, IT will show you entire procedure.
You must replace entire axle.
Use a die grinder with a cutoff wheel and cut the race in half taking care not to touch the shaft. If the bearing race spun on the shaft and froze on to the shaft chances are the shaft is damaged.
Left and right is when you are sitting in the car. Drivers is left, passengers is right.
