Something should be showing up with the diagnostics- take your vehicle to a parts store and ask them to check for codes. the problem stems from chevy's fuel pumps especially from 1994-present. next time you encounter a no-start check the pump operation by first turning the key off then turning it back on without cranking, you should hear your pump hum as it pressurizes the line if you dont hear it.....erratic pump failure wich will not show up in the obd-2 scan. i have owned two chevys.and in my 97 model and 2000 model i have had to clean my fuel injectors.
It could be out of gas.
The most common reason for your 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck not to start is a battery that needs to be charged. Charge the battery for a minimum of 15 minutes.

First thing that comes to mind, fuel pump.
fuel pump or fuel filter fuel pump is in the tank
Could be many things but a plugged up fuel filter is where I would start.
The engine will smother down as if running out of fuel. When the fuel pump went out on my pickup, is just randomly quit. It worked fine one day, and when I went out to start it again, it would not start.
a motor needs fuel, spark, and air to run. Check your plugs, unplugged sensor wires, distributer cap.
I have recently removed a 1992 Chevrolet Silverado dashboard from a junkyard truck, and also my '92 Chevrolet Silverado dashboard from my fathers truck and installed the new one I removed from the junk yard truck...let me just inform you, it's not easy. Start at the bottom removing those screws and work your way up is my best suggestion.
The same as any other vehicle. Start at the right rear, then left rear, then right front, and end up at the left front.
I have the same truck and installed a remote start/alarm.I went to the library computer and used their online resource called ALLDATA.
Could be a tired fuel pump. GM trucks are not strangers to bad fuel pumps.
If your 2003 Silverado is lurching or jerking when you start it the most common issue is the fuel pump.
