The curriculum must conform to the state's curriculum for tattoo artistry. Professional licensure has additional requirments because once you graduate from school you must also pass a state test.

The hourly curriculum is determined by the location. In Virginia tattoo school is 750 hours long (http://www.tattoo-training.net). However tattoo apprenticeship is 1500 hours. These are the two accepted methods for obtaining professional licensure in this commonwealth.

Health Department guidelines have to be followed, or you can get your tattoo license taken away.
