Does it stay stuck in first gear? or does it change and when it changes does it seem to wanna slip... if it does shift and it shifts smoothly it might be the kick down lever that's going to the transmission... sometimes they can become rusty making the vehicle shift at much higher RPMs then normal, making you think that its the transmission. If its not that then it might be the bands, or servos... im not a transmission exspert, but I do know somethings about them... Also, it might be the filter... sounds weird, I know, but always check fluid levels and filter as well, a clogged filter or old fluid can make the transmission seem bad, when its actually just the fluid and filter... lots of things to consider... thanks, hope ive helped.
Bad synchronizer. Internal transmission repair required to fix.
It is quite possible that your clutch is not disengaging the transmission from the motor. Also, your synchros could be bad, which would not allow it to go into gear.
some of the classic signs of a tranny going bad is leaking, slipping in and out of gear delayed starts from a stop where the car raises rpms before it takes off and shaking or jerking when its going into gear
Std. transmission? Bad clutch? Auto transmission? Check transmission fluid level
MIGHT NEED A NEW SPEED SENSOR I posted the original question. I paid to have the symptoms diagnosed. It was actually a worn plastic gear set on the end of the speed sensor / speedometer cable and the mating gear in the transmission. The one inside the transmission requires tear-down of entire transmission... bad news.
Bad synchronizer. Internal transmission repair required to fix.
The transmission shift solenoids are bad!!
yup had the same problem never knew what broke in the tranny
you could either have a bad syncranizer or the throw out bearing is up
You can tell when your car will take too long to shift to a higher gear when accelerating. Your transmission can also jump out of gear as well.
TCM power Relay Sense Circuit. This is a relay on your transmission, that if it goes bad it will stay stuck in a gear.
Is it shifting thru the gears, stuck in first gear or not moving at all while in gear? If stuck in first gear only, is the speedometer working? If so it could be the VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR. It is about $20 to $35 and located on the transmission. It controls the shifts and the speedo. If not moving or slipping real bad, check the fluid level and look at the color and smell it for a burnt odor.
the synchronize in the transmission is bad, that why the jumping out of fifth gear
That low gear is used anytime that breaking traction would be a bad thing. Like towing something that is stuck in mud or snow.
If the vehicle is stuck in 2nd gear and does not change gears.... you more then likely have a bad speed sensor. The transmission is electronic and the 2nd gear is considered the " Safe" mode. Take it and have the transmission computer checked for codes.
Switch on the side of the transmission was bad. Possible output speed sensor, it is on the left side of the transmission towards the rear. Two wires in the connecter.
the transmission is failling or starting to go bad so get it fixed or get a new transmission the transmission is going bad
