Fuel Filter Removal & Installation 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Properly relieve the fuel system pressure. 3. Raise and safely support the vehicle securely on jack stands. 4. Remove the fitting safely clips by gently prying them off. Usually they are held to the fuel lines by small retaining straps, however take care not to lose them. 5. Insert fuel line disconnect toll T90T-9550-S into the quick-connect fittings on the fuel lines. 6. Push the tool into the spring lock coupling and release the garter spring and separate the fitting. Twisting the line sometimes aid in releasing stubborn connections. *** Caution *** Fuel will most likely run out of the line after it is removed from the filter. 7. Repeat the procedure for the other fuel line. 8. Grasp the fuel filter and carefully pull it straight out of the retaining clamp. To Install; 9. Push the filter into the retaining clamp aligning the front lip on the filter into the groove. 10. Attach the fuel lines to the filter until an audible click is heard from the connection. Sometimes the click is very quiet, so test the fitting by gently pulling on the line to see if it comes loose. 11. Attach the fitting safety clips by snapping hem into place over the fittings. 12. Lower the vehicle. 13. Connect the negative battery cable. 14. Start the vehicle and check the filter and lines for leaks.
The Expedition uses the same HVAC system as the Ford F150 pickup truck. The Expedition is a little tricky because you have to remove the center console and floor heat distribution vent to access the actuator motor. Once you remove the motor, you can examine the blend door axle for cracks or breakage. This is a common fail mode on the Expedition. HeaterTreater is the world's leading company for aftermarket blend door fixes and has a product for the Expedition. Additional diagnostic information and pictures are available on the Ford Expedition HeaterTreater Ebay listing or the web site at www.heatertreater.net. There is an inexpensive effective fix available that replaces the cheap plastic door with steel that will outlast the vehicle. cgallen
It is for filtering the air going through the heater/ac system.
If you didn't fill the new filter up with clean diesel fuel when you assembled it, you introduced air into the system.
That would be part of the crankcase ventilation system. I guess you could call it the air filter housing to engine crankcase ventilation tube.
Hard job requiring refrigerant recovery system. TAke it to a garage.
How do you depressurize fuel system to install filter 1998 ford expedition?
fuel filter should be located inside engine compartment monted on fire wall.remember to depressurize fuel system and DISCONNECT battery when doing this.
to depressurerize the system you would simply take off the gas cap.(fuel will still be in the lines and it will spill when the lines are disconected but it would not be under pressure)
Remove gas cap and suck all gasoline from gas tank.
The fuel filter is typically located underneath the drivers side of the vehicle between the drivers and second row seats. It is visible by looking under the vehicle and will be located between the vehicle framing structure and exterior body. It is not easily visible accessible. If replacing the filter, be sure to depressurize your fuel line/system. The fuel filter is typically located underneath the drivers side of the vehicle between the drivers and second row seats. # The canister filter is mounted in a clip on the firewall near the brake master cylinder # Depressurize the fuel system then disconnect the negative battery cable # Detach the filter from the bracket loosen the screw clamps then detach the hoses from the top and bottom of the filter and remove it
It's on the passenger's side in front of the rear wheel. Use two wrences on each fitting. Either depressurize the system by pressing on the schrader valve under the hood (with a rag over it) or wear safety goggles. No smoking please.
depressurize fuel system. loosen gas cap. drop shield pull hoses drop tank pull pump rack replace pump reverse above
No, but it is safer if you do.
Fuel filter is located under the car, under the passenger side door. Depressurize the fuel system first using the relief valve on the fuel injectors; it has a screw on cap and works like a tire valve. Catch the gas in a rag. The fuel lines unsnap from the filter when you press in the tabs and pull. Keep your face away, or you'll get a face full of gas like I did.
