Sometime the brake shoes will rust or freeze to the drum. TAke it to a garage.
The cable underneath probably came loose. Have it checked out.

Does the truck have stock discs? Why would you want to switch the discs back to drums? Does the truck have stock discs? Why would you want to switch the discs back to drums?

if you want to adjust the emergency brake tension on a 1985 chevy scottsdale 10, you would have to get under the truck and take a look at your brakes. it may be that you would have to also look under the hood or ask a mechanic frien for assistance.
Easiest would be to disconnect the wire at the emergency brake handle.
If the light stays on when the emergency brake is not engaged, this indicates the brakes are getting low and need to be replaced.
