On most cars its possible to remove the lower control arm without removing the axle nut. however sometimes the nut on the ball joint stud wont come off because the axle is in the way. If that happens try loosening the nut as far as you can then pop the ball joint loose. When it drops it will allow you to finish removing the nut. Good luck

remove tire, remove brake callipar, remove hub bearing bolts (3). remoce drive axle nut 1-5/16 remove lower control arm, pop out drive axle.
Raise car securely, remove wheel, brake calipher and brake rotor. Remove the bolts on the inner part of the axle where is bolts to the transaxle. Place jack under lower control arm and then separate lower arm from spindle by removing the nut on the lower ball joint.
