You are probaby referring to the grommet, a rubber ring, that fits in a hole in the valve cover, sealing off the PCV valve or the breather hose.
The PCV sits in a rubber grommet in the top of the valve cover.
PVC Valve is located valve cover / crankcase cover. Removal; 1. Disconnect the oil separator hose from the PVC valve. 2. Remove the PVC valve from the grommet in the crankcase. 3. inspect the grommet for deterioration. To Install; 4. If necessary, replace the crankcase grommet. 5. Install the PVC valve. 6. Install the hose.
PVC Valve Removal & Installation # Disconnect the oil separator hose from the PVC Valve. # Remove the PVC Valve from the grommet in the crankcase. Grasp the valve and gently remove it from the grommet in the passengers side valve cover. Remove the valve from the hose by carefully twisting it out. # Inspect the grommet for deterioration. To Install; # If necessary, replace the crankcase grommet. # Install the PVC Valve. # Install the hose.

First of all it is the PCV valve and not PVC(the plastic). The PCV valve is located on the valve cover towards the front of the vehicle, nearly 4 inches from the oil dipstick. It is inserted in a rubber grommet on the valve cover and is connected to a hose about half an inch in diameter. Both the hose and the grommet are fitted to th PCV valve by merely pressing them in. First press the hose on the PCV valve then seat(press) the PCV valve into the grommet.
The pcv valve should be in the right end of the front valve cover in a rubber grommet
You PVC valve is gonna be on the right hand side valve cover it will be a lil rubber grommet that has a small hose coming out of it remove the hose from the grommet and with a pair of needle nose pliers and some lubrication gently pull the grommet our and the PVC valve should be inside of the rubber grommet
On the 1998 Ford Explorer Sport with 4.6L V8 the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) will be located on the driver's side of the vehicle. On top of the front-left engine valve cover will be a grommet and hose assembly. In between the grommet and hose, and attached to the valve cover is the PCV valve.
The pcv valve is located in the cam cover of the engine. The cam cover is also where your oil filler cap is located. Look over to the right of the filler cap. You will see a grey plastic piece stuck into a rubber grommet in the cam cover. This is the pcv valve. Pull it out of it's grommet, remove the hose from the other end, and re-install in the same order. To make your new valve slide easily into the hose and grommet, just spit on the valve housing, being careful not to get it into the valve body. That's it!
The pcv valve on a 1989 Camaro is located in the top of the valve cover. It plugs into a rubber grommet and is easily replaceable.
PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation. All car engines have a PCV valve and it is located on top of the motor's valve cover. There is a vacuum line attached to it. It pulls out of the valve cover and if you shake it, you should hear a marble knocking inside it. If you shake it and don't hear anything, it's bad. It costs less than 5 bucks to replace. * 4.0L is located in the valve cover near the brake booster * 5.0L is located behind the intake manifold (engine rear)PVC Valve Removal & Installation # Disconnect the oil separator hose from the PVC Valve. # Remove the PVC Valve from the grommet in the crankcase.
