Find cylinder # 1. Remove that spark plug. With a socket wrench on the harmonic balancer/crankshaft nut, slowly turn the engine until TWO (2) conditions occur simultaneously: 1) the timing mark is on TDC and, 2) #1 piston is at the top of its travel. Then rotate the distributor shaft to set the rotor to line up with the #1 terminal in the distributor cap, plus about 2 teeth counterclockwise. Then insert the distributor "jiggling" it to engage the teeth, until it fully seats. As the gears mesh, the rotor should rotate slightly so that when fully seated, the rotor will be centered below the #1 tower on the cap. If rotor is off slightly, make note of how far off it is, and pull distributor assembly just far enough out to disingage the teeth. Then rotate the shaft just the amount to match the amount it was off on the first try. Reseat the assembly and again check for proper position. Until you get the hang of it, it may take several attempts, but be patient, as you will get better at determining how much pre-rotation, and in which direction. Good luck. j3h.

Turn the engine until the #1 plug is at TDC on the compression stroke. Mark the distributor at that location. Install the new distributor and turn until you are at the exact same location. Have the timing checked after you get it started.
The distributor is on the front of the engine.
what are the numbers on the distributor for a 1993 Honda civic LX
there is no distributor cap nor distributor
To install the distributor in a 1993 Ford Probe, first ensure the engine is in the correct position (usually at TDC on the firing stroke for cylinder 1). Remove any necessary components that obstruct access to the distributor. Align the distributor with the corresponding mark on the engine, then insert it while ensuring the rotor points to the correct cylinder. Finally, secure it in place, reconnect any wiring, and reassemble any components you removed.
there is no distributor. it uses coil packs and control modules
To replace the distributor on a 1993 Ford F-150, first disconnect the battery and remove any obstacles that obstruct access to the distributor. Mark the position of the existing distributor for proper alignment, then disconnect the electrical connector and any vacuum lines. Unbolt the distributor hold-down clamp and carefully lift out the distributor, ensuring the rotor's position is noted. Install the new distributor by aligning it with the marks made earlier, securing it with the hold-down clamp, and reconnecting all electrical components and vacuum lines before reconnecting the battery.
Find your distributor cap and follow the center cable to a rectangular part. This is the ignition module. Remove it, get a new one and install it.
Do you mean rotor? If so, remove the distributor cap and remove the old rotor and install the new one. Simple repair.
