If I were wanting to remove the coolant without draining the whole system which would do the trick, I would siphone the coolant out with a small hose like cleaning out an aquarium. In a 1996 Saturn, the low coolant switch is typically located in the coolant reservoir tank. It is usually positioned near the bottom of the reservoir, where it can detect the coolant level. You may need to remove the reservoir to access the switch for inspection or replacement. Always refer to the vehicle's service manual for specific details and diagrams.
Locate the radiator and the coolant reservoir box. Remove the lid of the coolant reservoir. Then remove the drain plug from the bottom of the radiator. When the fluid has leaked out, put the plug in place. Pour in a mixture of distilled water and antifreeze into the reservoir, according to your needs or the specifications. Run the engine for three minutes, then check the coolant level and add more if needed. Be careful not to remove the hose from the reservoir as the plastic nipple it is fastened to will easily break if too much force is used.

Yes- coolant reservoir is designed to accept excess coolant - As coolant heats up it will expand and flow to the coolant recovery tank (reservoir) and as it cools (contracts) it will be sucked back into the radiator
