check your power steering fluid make sure its not low.... It sounds like a CV joint(Constant Velocity) joint. Generally they replace the axle on the side the clicking sound is occuring. The CV joint has a rubber boot that wears and dirt gets inside and ruins everything. I used to live on a gravel road and had to replace a few on my front wheel drive vehicles. Hope this helps.
First if you have steel wheels you can remove or loosen the center nut (cv axle nut) before jacking up the vehicle, starting by jacking up your Hyundai and properly supporting it. Take off the tire, for the side that your replacing, take out the cotter key on the lower ball joint, remove the lower ball joint nut (sometimes the nut won't come off completely until you break the ball joint loose from the knuckle), use a ball joint separator (fork) to break the ball joint free from the knuckle, pull the lower control arm down until it is free from the knuckle,
A rubber expansion joint is designed to absorb movements in piping systems due to thermal expansion or vibration, while a dismantling joint is used to provide the ability to dismantle a pipeline into separate parts for maintenance or repair purposes. The rubber expansion joint helps to prevent damage to the piping system, while the dismantling joint helps to facilitate easy access to the pipeline components.
don't replace the joint. replace the axle
The boot is the rubber cover The boot is the accorion-folded rubber shroud that fits over the ball joint,
Rather than replacing just the ball joints, replace the whole arm as replacing just the ball will more than likely not work. Use ball joint remover tools to remove and replace.
This rubber jacket you speak of is actually covering the CV joint. If the rubber is torn or cracked, then you more than likely need to have the CV joint replaced, as it will fail due to exposure to water and road debris. The rubber boot is what protects the joint.
The bellows on a CV joint is the rubber boot that covers the joint keeping dirt and water out, grease in.
