i have a 2006 Dodge ram 4x4 i keep blowing my rack n pinion ,i haved replaced both Power Steering pump and rack with new it blows the seals
Generally the seal on eithe the power steering pump or the rack and pinion steering must be replaced by a large shop that specializes. Not many individuals have successfully rebuilt either a rack and pinion or a power steering pump.
seems like the steering pump should have been repaired or replaced
If you have rack and pinion steering, the steering gear will need replaced.
The problem is your rack and pinion .
Hey Marilyn==Either the gear is leaking otr the line wasn't tightened when the pump was replaced. GoodluckJoe
some people never replace the rack and pinion. It's one of those things that you don't replace unless it NEEDS to be replaced. It's usually expensive, even to do yourself. A good way to keep power steering components from needing to be replaced is to install a magnefine filter in the power steering return line. Google "magnefine power steering filter". It's about $16 and WELL worth the investment!
Rack and pinion, power box, and power rack steering.
A Rack and pinion. Your steering wheel turns a gear(or pinion). This gear moves a shaft side to side(rack). The shaft is attached to the wheels allowing you to steer. If the componets are damaged or the internal power steering parts are damaged it needs replaced.
no it does not,its power steering with a gear box
Rack and pinion power steering.
The power steering lines run between the power steering pump and the rack and pinion.
THE POWER STEERING PUMP IS LOW ON FLUID OR HAS GONE BAD ALLTOGETHER. This happened to my 2002 intrigue, and it was caused by failure of the rack and pinion steering, parts were obtained from NAPA PARTS,and replaced by dealer.
