The cell can become cancer and will multiply continuously without stopping. It will form tumors and if it reaches the bloodstream, it can infect other parts of the body. This will eventually cause death for the organism.

A cell does not mutate. Mutation is another word for error or mistake - in this case, an error is made in the replication of DNA - the genetic code changes slightly. In the huge majority of cases, this has no effect whatsoever, in some cases it can be lethal, in some cases it can produce a minor change that can be good or bad - there is no way of predicting when a mutation will happen, or its effect.

What happens to the instructions when the genes are changed or mutated Provide an example of hemoglobin gene mutation?

If our hemoglobin gene is normal, the hemoglobin protein works fine. But if the instuctions in that gene are changed, or "mutated,"changes in the hemoglobin protein could result. One such mutation causes a disorder called sickle cell anemia.

What is the natural causes of mutations?

1.)Mutations can be inherited. This means if a parent has a mutation in his/her DNA, then the mutation is passed on to the child.2.)Mutations can be acquired. This happens when a mistake accurs when a cell copies its DNA.3.)Mutations can occur by a hidden gene. This happens when your ancestor(for example, "grandma") has the mutation and that mutation is passed on to every other girl(for example), then the girl will get the mutation.

What difference does it make if a mutation occurs in a somatic cell or in a gamete?

If the mutation occurs in a somatic cell and the cell is still able to reproduce, the mutation continues in the daughter cells in following generations. If a mutation occurs in a gamete, the original organism remains unchanged. If that gamete is used for reproduction, then the mutation will continue in the offspring.
