NaOH is scientifically known as sodium hydroxide, and commercially known as caustic soda. It is made from the electrolosis of a salt water solution called brine in a manufacturing facility known as a chlor-alkali plant. Sea water could obviously be used, but would be weaker in concentration than the commercially prepared brine.

In any case, the brine flows in a trough over a running bed of liquid Mercury. Carbon rods are immersed in the brine and act as electrodes to carry a strong electrical current through the brine solution. This results in the salt (sodium chloride - NaCl) breaking down and releasing chlorine gas (Cl2), with the Na then picking up the hydroxyl radical (OH-) to become NaOH.

The reaction also produces a weak solution of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) a bleaching solution known commercially as Javex or Chlorox.

HOW TO 0.1N NaOH solution preparation?

To prepare a 0.1N NaOH solution, dissolve 4g of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) pellets in enough water to make 1 liter of solution. Use a volumetric flask to accurately measure the final volume. Remember to handle NaOH with caution as it is a caustic substance.

How do you prepare 30 percent of NaOH?

To prepare a 30% NaOH solution, you would mix 30 grams of NaOH with enough water to make 100 grams of final solution. Be sure to use caution when handling NaOH as it is a caustic substance and can cause skin and eye irritation.

How to prepare 2N solution of NaOH in 10 ml of water?

To prepare a 2N solution of NaOH in 10 ml of water, you would need to calculate the amount of NaOH needed based on its molecular weight. Once you have determined the amount needed, dissolve it in 10 ml of water to make the solution. Remember to handle NaOH with caution as it is corrosive.

How do you prepare 1 N to 0.1N NaOH solution?

To prepare 0.1N NaOH solution from a 1N NaOH solution, you can dilute 1 part of the 1N solution with 9 parts of water (since 1/10 = 0.1). Measure 1 volume of the 1N NaOH solution and add 9 volumes of water to it, then mix well to get your 0.1N NaOH solution.

How do you prepare 10 N of NAOH?

To prepare a 10 N solution of NaOH, you would dissolve 400 g of NaOH pellets in enough distilled water to make 1 liter of solution. Remember to add the NaOH to the water slowly and carefully due to the exothermic nature of the reaction. Finally, stir the solution until all of the NaOH has fully dissolved.

How will prepare 200ml of 10 percent NaOH Solution?

Dissolve 0.4 g of NaOH in 100 ml of water. Try it out. Actually it is not suitable to prepare NaOH solutions in standard flasks. It should be made in beakers & must be standardised..This is done to find the correct normality...

How can we Prepare 1mM NaOH?

To prepare 1 mM NaOH solution, you would dissolve 0.040 g of NaOH in enough water to make 1 liter of solution. This concentration is equivalent to 1 millimole of NaOH per liter of solution. Be cautious when handling NaOH as it is a caustic substance.

How can you prepare 300ml of 2.5M NaOH solution?

To prepare 300ml of 2.5M NaOH solution, you would need to dissolve 7.5g of NaOH in enough water to make 300ml of solution. Make sure to wear protective gear and handle NaOH with caution due to its caustic nature. Gradually add NaOH to the water and stir gently until fully dissolved to avoid splattering.

How can prepare 10ppm NaOH solution?

To prepare a 10 ppm (parts per million) NaOH solution, you would need to dissolve 10 mg of NaOH in 1 liter of water. This concentration is achieved by adding a very small amount of NaOH to ensure the solution contains 10 parts of NaOH for every 1 million parts of water. Be sure to wear appropriate safety gear and handle NaOH with caution.

How will you prepare 1 percent naoh?

To prepare a 1% NaOH solution, you can mix 1 part of NaOH (sodium hydroxide) with 99 parts of water by weight. For example, to prepare 100 mL of 1% NaOH solution, you would dissolve 1 gram of NaOH in 99 grams of water. Remember to always add NaOH to water slowly while stirring to avoid splattering and heat generation.

How can you prepare NAOH 0.25N?

To prepare a 0.25N solution of NaOH, you can dissolve 10 grams of NaOH in sufficient distilled water to make 1 liter of solution. Use a volumetric flask to accurately measure the volume of water. Remember to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and follow safety protocols when handling NaOH as it is a caustic substance.

Is it possible to prepare a standard NaOH solution by dissolving an accurate amount of NaOH pellets in a known volume of water?

Yes, it is possible to prepare a standard NaOH solution by dissolving an accurate amount of NaOH pellets in a known volume of water. This process allows for the calculation of the concentration of the NaOH solution based on the amount of NaOH used and the volume of water.
