active element means that does not work itself it require external power source for working ie electricity or other

and passive element means that work ifself does not equire external power source for working ie electricity or other

eg. active- compressor need electricity, also tv,computer etc

passive- thermometer sens temperature itself (Mercury thermometer)

Resistor\Capacitor\inductor- passive component

Diode\Transistor\IC- active Component

Wiki:

  • Passive components are ones which cannot introduce net energy into the circuit they are connected to. They also cannot rely on a source of power except for what is available from the (AC) circuit they are connected to. As a consequence they are unable to amplify (increase the power of a signal), although they may well increase a voltage or current such as is done by a transformer or resonant circuit. Among passive components are familiar two-terminal components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, and most sorts of diodes.
  • Active components rely on a source of energy (usually from the DC circuit, which we have chosen to ignore) and are usually able to inject power into a circuit although this is not part of the definition. This includes amplifying components such as transistors, triode vacuum tubes (valves), and tunnel diodes.

How does active termination improve upon passive termination?

In active termination scheme it removes the thermal noise which results in the passive termination due to the end resistors..

Define the difference between active and passive Prevetive Maintenance In Computer System?

Active maintenance is for all hard ware components and Passive maintenance for the supporting devices of hard ware components

Diffrentiate between active heatsink and passive heatsink?

In a active heatsink system you have both a heatsink and a fan thus for the most part an active heatsink cools better with one exception. Should the fan fail the active heatsink will quickly overheat. Passive heatsinks relay on transferring heat without the aid of a fan. The advantage here is that a passive heatsink is fail proof and uses 0 electricity, however passive heatsinks don't typical cool as well. Passive heatsinks work great for supporting chips and RAM cooling. They are also found in servers because of the no fail aspect. EnzoTech produces some passive heatsinks you can read a bit more about them here: http://electricalninja.com/

Difference between active and passive components?

ACTIVE COMPONENTS The components which produce the energy in the form of current or voltage are called as active components. Example:transistors etc,. PASSIVE COMPONENTS The components which stores the energy in the form of current or voltage are called as passive components. example:inductors, resistors, capacitors etc,. Is diode an active or passive device?

An active device is a device that takes input energy to operate. The only energy a diode uses is from the signal applied to it (it has one input, one output, and no other terminals), so it is a passive device. To be an active device, a separate power source must be applied to it - such as the case for operation amplifiers, for example.

Whether a capacitor is an active or a passive element?

Passive element. An active element is an element that can generate power. Capacitors can't generate power, hence they are passive elements.

How is passive voice formed?

The passive voice must have the verb 'to be' in the correct tense plus the past participle of the main verb. Here are some examples: I do (active)/it is done (passive) I did (active)/it was done (passive) I am doing (active)/it is being done (passive) I was doing (active)/it was being done (passive) and so on

What is protect in a passive voice?

The passive voice must have the verb 'to be' in the correct tense plus the past participle of the main verb. Here are some examples: I do (active)/it is done (passive) I did (active)/it was done (passive) I am doing (active)/it is being done (passive) I was doing (active)/it was being done (passive) and so on So to change protect into the passive would be I protect (active)/ It is protected (passive)

Examples of active and passive sentences?

Active: She hits the table. 'She' is the subject and is doing the action. Passive: The table is hit by her. 'She' (or 'her' in this case) is doing the action but is not the subject.

What are active elements in circuit?

A; Any components that provide gain/loss are active device resistors, capacitors are passive

Are capacitors and inductors active elements?

Capacitors and inductors are considered passive elements, not active elements, because capacitors and inductors do not supply or amplify energy. An example of an active element is a battery, which supplies energy to a circuit.

When is a verb said to be in the passive voice?

A verb is said to be in the passive voice when the subject of the sentence is acted upon by the verb, rather than performing the action. In passive voice constructions, the focus is on the recipient of the action rather than the doer. A common indicator of passive voice is the inclusion of a form of "be" (e.g., is, was, were) with the past participle of the main verb.

all passive elements which absorb energy from active elements can control the flow of electrons

Is transistor a passive element?

No, the transistor is very active; slight changes to the input at the base produce dynamic and substantial activity at the collector. Both resistors and coils are examples of passive elements/devices because their individual tasks and values are firmly set and do not vary.
