The Dutch East India Company (VOC) chose the Cape of Good Hope as a halfway station primarily due to its strategic location along the trade route between Europe and Asia. The Cape offered a sheltered harbor, fresh water, and abundant supplies of fresh food, which were essential for resupplying ships. Additionally, its position allowed for easier navigation and a safer stopover for ships, reducing the risks associated with long voyages. This made it an ideal logistical hub for the VOC's maritime operations.

The only thing I can think of that would be DEIC would be a Dutch East India Company, which did produce coinage, but they didn't say DEIC but would have rather said VOC (short for the Dutch Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie) but I can't seem to find any coins bearing the legend DEIC. If you'd post a new question including some more details, it might be easier to narrow your coin down. Like what is on each side? What is it struck in? Gold? Silver? Copper? Also, keep in mind that your coin might be a reproduction or a fantasy peace rather than a genuine coin.
