No. Lying could never be a crime in a general context such as the internet because then lawmakers would be given the impossible task of determining once and for all what the truth is.

Perjury is the specific crime of lying under oath in court. Here the "truth" of the situation is defined very tightly by the charges that are laid by the prosecutor in the context of the court. Lawyers (attorneys) are (to all intents) exempt from perjury because their statements are interpreted in this situation as "arguments" rather than statements of fact.

In some contexts, e.g. retail, it can be an offense to sell, e.g. alcohol, to someone who is, or appears to be, under the age at which they may be legally sold, a product.

In order to protect themselves against the charge of illegally selling alcohol to a child, a retailer may require the production of I.D.

It would certainly be a crime to forge an I.D. document for the purposes of tricking someone into illegally breaking the law.

In relationships, it is not illegal to lie about your age, but it is immoral.

For example: If you are planning on having sexual intercourse with a minor, or vice versa, the lying of the age is immoral and the sexual intercourse is illegal.

Another example: If you are 40 and dating a 20 year old, you may wish to lie about your age and tell them you are younger. This is not illegal but is immoral. It is also risky as it may cause complications if you are confronted about your lie.

If you have to be under 12 to participate in an Easter Egg hunt Is it illegal to lie about your age?

If it requires parental consent, it would be illegal for parents to misrepresent your age. But because in any case there is very little likelihood of any legal action, the more important question is a moral one: In this case, do you yourself feel that it is morally wrong to lie?

Is it illegal to lie?

It depends upon where you lie. If you lie on the witness stand or while under oath you could end up in jail. Lying on government documents can also lead to criminal penalties. Lying on school and job applications can lead to other penalties. It is illegal to lie about someone else if you are hurting their reputation. So for instance if you are walking and you say something bad about a person and it is not true you are hurting the persons reputation, your making him look bad. That is illegal. I know that may not be a good example though.

Is it illegal to enter something for over 18 but you are younger?

Yes, it is illegal to enter into something where it states the person must be 18 or older and you lie about your age. If you should profit from whatever you entered into then you will not get what you hoped to get, but charges generally will not apply against you even though it was an illegal act.
