This ones almost fun. The organization while a not for profit or tax exempt, needs to file a Form 990 with the IRS. This pretty much discloses everything. Also, generally, all the infor ation you want is available in the annual reports by the organization, either by just asking or on their website. The Form 990, the information return that has to be filed annually with the IRS, is a public document and is becoming even more public. As of this writing you are required to show any or all of your 990s for the past three years to anyone who comes into your office and asks to see them. You are also will required to to mail such 990s (for a reasonable fee) to anyone who writes and asks for them. They are becoming available on the internet to anyone in the world who wishes to see it. There are several organizations that are currently working to achieve this effort, one of which Guidestar (see link), is a jewel. If your group is uncooperative...go there.
