Often on islands and separate sides of mountains different cultures will develop. Also, sometimes in a peninsula a civilization may exist but not influence the outer areas. Also, an area of desert may have a culture that values water more than the sun, but a damp, jungle's natives will proabably value the sun or the forest more. It is mostly to do with physcial borders.

*As India is an LEDC (A less economically developed country) and it is located North of the Indian ocean, India often receives tropical cyclones (or hurricanes) which can cause damage to land (by flooding it), meaning it is difficult to grow crops which as an LEDC India largely rely on. As cyclones are created from sea water, the salt water contaminates land and makes growing crops close to inpossible. *This can result in death, as can the tropical cyclone itself as many areas cannot afford technology to protect areas against the hurricane. Houses are also poorly built and so many people can become homeless, living in unhygenic conditions. *There is a lack of drinking water as wells, which are a main source of water, become contaminated during the cyclone as they are not professionally constructed and are not covered. *Also hurricanes usually occur in September. Whilst farmers are heavily reliant upon Monsoon rain to feed their crops, recent flooding from the cyclone can mean that crops will be damaged and will not need to receive any more rainfall. The Himalayan mountains prevent rain clouds from travelling further north of India meaning the rain clouds will be trapped in India where there was tremendous amounts of flooding. This can have catastrophic results on India's population in terms of demographic change. *Whilst physical influence results in these high death rates, the economic strength of the country largely plays a factor which is why economically stronger countries like America generally tend to not suffer as many demographic losses.
