To fight what nation?
One more point: Today's technology doesn't need a draft. In Vietnam, for one example in 1965; approximately 900 USAF modern jet fighter bombers tried unsuccessfully to drop (destroy) a bridge in two days; they dropped THOUSANDS of tons of bombs on that particular target to no avail...and at a cost of several jets and airmen.
Today, that very same type of target can be destroyed with one UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle); or at worst one hi-tech 21st century aircraft unloading a smart weapon at it.
Necessary manpower comparisons: The Vietnam era example used 1,800 potential draftees, using the two man F4 Phantom II as an example (most pilots were draft induced volunteers during the Vietnam War). The 21st century example used "0" human lives and with the "worst" case scenario of a modern 21st century aircraft unloading a smart weapon...that would've been one to two persons.
Bottom line: Why draft when none to 2 people can do the job that 1,800 men used to be needed to do?
Who was president of the US when the military draft ended
They strengthed their army by creating a new military draft.
The military draft system is rather complex and involves tens of thousands of people throughout the US. If there is no draft, then advertising budgets for recruiting have to be much larger. It would be hard to compare, as the draft is needed when there is a vast need for large numbers of soldiers.
Whether or not there should be a draft (i.e. military conscription) in the US is a matter of debate. Many people argue that in modern times, due to the relatively high number of people who voluntarily enlist in the military, a draft is not necessary. Others argue that at least some conscription is good in case a large conflict starts suddenly, requiring very large numbers of men to be deployed. The US government does have the ability to begin conscription during a war, should it become necessary. At present, the US military is an all-volunteer force, and has been since 1973. The Selective Service System is still maintained, just in case of the unlikely situation that a draft becomes necessary.
The US Civil War & Vietnam War experienced draft riots. These were physical violent protests against the military draft (conscription).
The US military draft began in the US Civil War (1861-1865).
Who was president of the US when the military draft ended
The 13th Amendment guarantees freedom from slavery for all people and has nothing to do with a military draft. The US also does not use a military draft to date.

The military draft. The military draft. And of course, the military draft. If people are NOT involved...they simply do not care. When they received that draft notice in the US Mail...they very suddenly cared!
US Citizens facing the military draft.
Lincoln and congress first orchestrated the nation's first military draft during the US Civil War (1861-1865). Vietnam (1861-1975) was the last military draft orchestrated by Nixon and congress.
The US military all ready has in place plans for a draft of women if/ when a draft is reintroduced. Women ARE eligible now in the eyes of the government, so they will be drafted.
In the US they register for the military draft.
The draft was outlawed sometime in the late 60's or early 70's.
