According to the book Maui By Kristin Kimball Published by Lonely Planet, 2005 Haliimaile means "fragrant, twining shrub" In the article Hali'imaile General Store written by Mark E. Ward for Hawaiian Style Magazine on October 1, 2008 Haliimaile means "a covering of the fragrant maile twining shrub." Maile is shiny, green native Hawaiian plant often used in leis. Aloha-Hawaii.com says that maile is a member of the periwinkle family and is often associated with the Hula goddess Laka. you can find images at www.hawcc.hawaii.edu/.../images/maile.jpg Hopefully this has been at least somewhat helpful.
