The Tea Act was a lower in prices of tea from the British East India Company. the British enacted the Tea Act because their tea was too expensive and they couldn't sell. With a lower price, colonists began to buy the British tea. Colonial merchants were angry because their tea wouldn't sell to the colonists since the British tea had a lowered price. The Tea Act led to the Boston Tea Party where colonial merchants protested about British tea and threw crates of them into Boston harbor.
