Spain-
There aren't European countries in the Americas, but if you mean colonies, the first was the United States of America. The second was Haiti.
Britain, France and Spain were the first countries to colonize in the New World. Spain was the first, since it was the most powerful European country, adn it colonized Mexico and the West. France's colonies were farther north, in what is now Canada. Britain was last to colonize and it had the 13 bristish colonies split in three colonies: New England, Middle, and Southern colonies.
Several European countries established colonies in the Caribbean, including Spain, France, the Netherlands, and Britain. Spain was one of the first to colonize the region, claiming islands like Hispaniola and Cuba. France focused on areas such as Saint-Domingue (now Haiti) and Martinique, while the British established colonies in Jamaica and Barbados. The Dutch also had a presence, particularly in Aruba and Curacao.
The result was that Spain ended up controlling more of North and South America than all the other countries.
The first counties to establish colonies in America were Spain, France, and Great Britain
The Portuguese Empire was the longest colonial European empire, with its inception dating back to its capture of Cueta in North Africa in 1415 CE. With its European borders safe from attack, Portugal was free to expand and explore other regions. It became the first European nation to explore and establish colonies in west Africa.
Spain was the first European country to establish a successful trade in luxury items.
This was a time of imperialism, in which European countries fought for land and resources in other lands. This was the First Age of Imperialism, that included North and South America.
