Wolves need to be protected for many reasons. First and foremost, they are one of the most beautiful and majestic creatures on this planet. They are so misunderstood, though. We grew up with Fairy Tales like "Little Red Riding Hood," and "The Three Little Pigs" that we are conditioned to believe that wolves are bad and vicious. Both of which are incorrect. Wolves are highly intelligent and very loyal to their pack and their mate. They are able to bring down prey that is much larger than they are by working as a team. That is a character trait that humans need to take a lesson on. Exterminating the wolves will adversely affect our ecosystem. We need to be doing all that we can to save these beautiful creatures. Lots of people have dogs and love them very much. You wouldn't have your precious dog if it weren't for the wolf. If you are reading this, I urge you to Google "wolf sanctuary" "wolf refuge" "wolf habitat" "wolf conservation/preservation" and read about these wonderful creatures. Look at the pictures of wolves and humans interacting. Look into the eyes of a wolf, and you will know why wolves need to be protected. Their soul shines through their eyes. It is undeniable. Visit a sanctuary, donate your time and/or money. It will be one of the best things you can ever do.

Predators for the otter include wolves and large cats, but they are protected when in the water.
Wolves were at one time on the brink of extinction and were rescued from becoming so in the 1970s. They were protected until 2011 when they were stripped of their protection under the Endangered Species Act by the US government. Instead they transferred the burden of this management to individual states and since then, more than 2,700 wolves have been slaughtered.
Wolves are not like the big bad wolves you have read or heard about in fairy tales! Occasionally they have been heard to attack cattle, but they are nice peaceful animals generally and they need to be protected so they do not become extinct.

people thought that wolves needed to be killed because they supposedly killed cattle and other livestock. Wolves were hunted down and killed. They even had bounties on them. They became endangered and today, they are protected and they are growing back in population :) yay for wolves! :P
