He even delivered it's "commencement" speech the day after the attacks on Pearl Harbor.
President Roosevelt would not live to see the end of WWII; he died less than a month (May 8, 1944) before victory was won for the Alllied Forces.
The president at the end of the war was Harry S Truman.
