"Blowing" FusesFuses and Circuit Breakers are safety devices designed and installed in electrical circuits TO PROTECT the conductors [wires] from short circuits and overload conditions which can cause extreme overheating which can result in damage to the conductors, and worse the possibility of a FIRE which could destroy the vehicle. When a fuse [and replacement fuses] repeatedly blow, is an indicator of an UNSAFE CONDITION in that circuit, usually a short. Do not install a larger fuse in a misguided attempt to correct the problem. To install a larger fuse would invite damage to the wiring and an electrical system fire. The proper "fix" is for a qualifiedtechnician, who knows what he/she's doing, to troubleshoot the circuit, find and identify the defect, and make proper repair [s], BEFORE replacing the fuse again [with a properly sized fuse].

What would make dash light fuse keep blowing on 89 Chevy cacaleir?

A short in the wiring.

Why does the shared fuse for the lighter and power door locks on my 1995 Saturn SL2 keep blowing?

Most of the time this is a corroded or bad lighter. Disconnect the lighter and if it no longer blows the fuse, replace the lighter and lighter receptacle.

What causes the ac fuse's to keep blowing out all the time?

The device that the fuse is protecting is causing the fuse to blow. It could be in the conductors that feed the device. Disconnect the device and see if the fuse blows. If it doesn't, then the wiring to the device is good. If the device is a motor load it could be seized bearing that cause the problem. With the rotor stalled the current will go high and blow the fuse. If you know an electrician, see if the device can be meggered to see if the internal wiring has gone to ground and is short circuiting as this will also cause a fuse to blow.

What should you do if the dash lights are not working on a 1993 Dodge Stealth?

Change your break light fuse, it is tied to your dashboard lights. Happened to me twice already. The fuse is a number 15 (blue) of the larger kind. The location of the fuse is in front of your (orat least mine) air filter. Actually I've dealt with this problem for awhile but since Im in school to become a mechanic I fixed the problem! All it is, is the rheostat, the dial to the left under your steering wheel that rolls. It can either be replaced costing 62 bucks or you can take a short wire and jump the load from that positive wire on the rheostat to the ground wire on it. You wont be able to adjust how bright the lights are but you will have light to see. Keep it easy to begin with. Fuse first! If the fuse is all good then move on. Always check fuses...always.

If the brake switch fuses and bulbs are good and your center brake light works but your side brake lights will not work What would cause this?

THIS COULD BE A BAD WIRE OR ALSO A BAD CONNECTION FROM COROSION INSIDE THE SOCKET THAT THE BULB FITS INTO. CHECK IT OUT FIRST AND CLEAN ANY THAT IS THERE BY GENTLY SCRATCHING IT OFF. ONE OF THE SOCKETS MIGHT ALSO BE BAD AND THAT MAY KEEP BOTH BREAK LIGHTS FROM WORKING. ALSO DO RESEARCH ONLINE AND YOU MAKE FIND OTHER THINGS THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN. GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE I WAS ABLE TO HELP A LIL BIT. JEAN

1994 tracker that keeps blowing the fuse for the signal lights there is no short anywhere can the switch on the column cause this?

Yes that could be the cause. If you keep blowing a fuse, either you have a short, loose connection, too small a fuse, or the circuit is overloaded.
