This picture represent the actual variety of races in the Dominican Republic. A lot of our local are Afro descended, and we feel proud about it, but also Dominicans were the first European settlement in Americas, which means there’s a lot of white folks in the north of the island and in Santo Domingo. Plus that Dominican Republic got a lot of immigrants from different part of Europe and Asia during war world II, folks that just got mixed with the locals and lost their track about their origin. So you can find Dominicans that comes from Jewish, Frenchs, Hungarians, Arabs, Japanese and Chinese. That’s make the Dominican Republic population a big party of races.
Dominicans come in ALL different colors, some are really white some are really tan and some are really black, some have blues eyes some have green some have brown, black etc. They are just like thier island brother Puerto Rico.

You can tell if you perform an ancestry DNA test. Sometimes its not enough to go by appearance alone. But African American is just one category of 'African'. You can be of African ancestry and not be American. In the USA, it's no longer important to be of African ancestry since the Jim Crow era is in the past and no longer applies today.
