Built by the Rootes Group in England, the Sunbeam Imp was one of several "badge engineered" cars based on the Hillman Imp. The car sports a rear-mounted, 875cc sohc 4-cyl engine. It was an early mini-car, roughly the same size and weight as the original Mini-Cooper, but taller. Introduced in 1963, it was built until 1977. Note: Since Hillman was not a "household" name in North America, Imps were imported to the US under the more-familiar Sunbeam name.
The 'netted sunbeam' refers to the sunbeam which seems to get trapped in the water due to sandy 'swallows'. Its reflected rays form a kind of flashing net. As it sways it seems to dance in its trap.
