Bhikhaji Rustom Cama was the first Indian to have raised an Indian flag on foreign soil and announced to the world our political flight with the British for the country's Independence. Madame Cama's flag had green on the top, golden saffron and red at the bottom. Eight lotuses, representing the eight provinces, were lined on the Indian flag. Vande Mataram was written in gold with the Crescent towards the hoist of the flag and the Sun on the other side.
Since president is the constitutional head, his entity comes into being only after constitution becomes effective. The acceptance of constitution took place on 26th Jan 1950, which is the Republic day. Whereas Independence was declared on 15th August 1947. At that time there was no President. So the flag hoisting on Independence day is not done by President.
It is taken from the Lions capital of Ashoka and having presence on various edicts of Ashoka. It has replaced pre independence charakha on the national flag. It has 24 spokes.
The current Canadian flag became a national symbol on February 15, 1965.

Hoist and fly refer to the measurements of a flag. The hoist of a flag is the measurement of the side which is affixed to the halyard (rope). The fly of the flag is the measurement of the flag when extended perpendicular to the mast (flagpole). You could use the terms length and width, but hoist and fly are more descriptive and accurate.
A diagonal yellow cross which divides the flag into four triangles with the hoist and outer side colored black and the upper and lower triangles in green.
