Skin color has to do with the amount of melanin that a person produces, which generally corresponds to the climate that their ancestors originated from. Generally, peoples from regions closer to the equator have darker skin and those farther from it have lighter skin.

∙ 13y agoThe melanin determines whether a skin is albinistic (true white), black or Caucasian. Eumelian polymers are present in Afro-American black people, Pheomelanin, a red pigment is present in Caucasian or 'white' people (hence why only this type have natural red hair). A mixture of these two are found in various Asian skin tones and mixed race. A lack of either polymer would make the person appear completely white-albunism. Lack of Vitamin D can make skin appear whiter.
