To begin, Egypt is considered North Africa. Large parts of Eastern Africa were actually controlled by Germany prior to World War I with the Germans losing all of their colonial holdings as part of the Treaty of Versailles 1919. These holdings were divided up among the Allied Powers of World War I with America rejecting the Treaty. There is no place as the Republic of South America. Simon Bolivar had a vision of a United South America similar to the United States but most of the area of South America rejected the idea. On his death bed he is quoted as saying, "All who served the revolution have plowed the sea".
'Jerries' was British army slang during the second world war for Germans. In the first world war, British soldiers were known as 'Tommies'.

WWI affected the entire world, including Europe, America, Africa (colonies) and south-east Asia (colonies). After the war, the Treaty of Versailles reshaped Europe and put the blame and cost of WWI on the Germans.
The war in Europe was a land war. The war in the Pacific was a naval war.

South Africa was not taken over by the Germans in World War 2. The South African people did however join the Royal Forces to defeat the Germans in Northern Africa. They did an excellent job serving in the Royal Forces. See related link below.
