No. The lute is a plucked stringed instrument invented at the end of the mediaeval period in Europe. Gamelan is a type of ethnic music from Indonesia which uses gongs of various sizes, and sometimes features singing and/or flutes, xylophones, drums and bowed stringed instruments. The lute is never used in gamelan.

it is virtually impossible to buy any well made ie not toy gamelan instruments outside of Indonesia. Not Gonna Happen. Unless you go to Indonesia, forget it!
