Yes, there are still composers of Classical Music.

If you mean in what is loosely called "classical" irrespective of style, but primarily highly-structured, often fairly complex, and almost always acoustic, most certainly yes, both secular and religious.
It covers orchestral, band, chamber and solo instrumental music; and solo, choral and opera singing.
Don't forget film scores either - most are symphonic suites following the tradition of, say, Mendelsohn, who wrote an incidental music suite for performances of Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's Dream".
There's also a huge amount of more experimental music being written, often combining amplified or electronic instruments with more conventional acoustic ones.
Classical was a particular musical style, mainly 18C I think though the boundaries are not ever so clear-cut and composers were often influenced by earlier work.
The annual Henry Wood Promenade Concert series is one major means by which such new music is commissioned and published. Also try exploring BBC Radio Three (by internet if you can't receive the radio broadcasts) - you'd be surprised what turns up on that channel, though you really need a genuine listing publication like 'Radio Times' to help you. Most magazines and newspapers ignore radio beyond mere titles or presenters and times.
in my opinion classical music is the best but im sure most people like music with words in it .._ Well, according to me, Classical Music is simply the best. I believe Classical Music is a base of all other Music. Listening to classical Music simply calms you & refreshes your mood. My best medicine whenever I am sad, depress, happy. I simply love to listen instruments of Indian Classical Music.
The term classical music refers to a broad period in Western music that includes the Baroque and Romantic eras.
Well although traditional tribal music is still admired, the inhabitance of Madagascar are very fond of classical and rock music. Leo the lion has been quoted saying 'everyone loves classical and rock in Madagascar, its our jam man!'
You know I am not into Classical Music, but boring, not really. I like to listen to the different instruments and pick out individual parts. Some of those lines can be used to make a wicked solo on a different instrument Classical Music calms & refreshes the instrument. I don't know much about Indian Classical Music but as I love listening soft, sad & instumental music I never felt bored. Whereas the other music has words, feelings & most important dance in it, so people prefer to listen then & entertaining. So, never say Classical Music is boring. It depends on the individual taste.
Classical music wasn't as you know it today. Today we have multiple genres spanning the entire music scene of the world. Several centuries ago Classical music was simply music. There was no disparity between what was classical and what was not. Nearly everything of the time was classical therefore it became popular from its inception. In terms of instrumental classical music, that took off at the demise of the Baroque Period and beginning of the Classical period. Rising middle-class wages allowed for a wider range of audience in virtuoso performances and public orchestras. Music was a sign of prestige and therefore those who could not perform at least attended. It was one of the primary sources of entertainment besides plays. Popularity for classical music has dwindled since the 19th century. And there is little hope it will be revived through the few neo-classical artists remaining.
Many people world wide listen to classical music. The classical compositions are a welcomed change of pace from the popular music of today. Of course there is no language barrier to classical music. Thus many people still listen to the composers of classical music such as Mozart and Beethoven.

Still not sure what you mean ... sorry ... middle 8 of what?

It definitely did! The reason why rock and roll and rock music was sometimes called the devil's music back then is that it was way too loud and shocking for a generation growing up on mostly classical and jazz music. High volume levels came with the electric guitar, and while younger people loved it, some older people were totally against it, and there are still people today who just bash rock music for being too loud and noisy.

Beethoven Piano Concerto 5 -- 2nd movement
It is personal preference. Some feel classical music because of the soft strings and such; but others may unwind to a harsh rock ballad or the crunch of a hard rock band. It's whatever makes you think less, and groove more. Even though classical music is soft it may make the listener cringe because of his dislike for that type of music. You would think though, that that would be the most soothing of all. It would be your personal favorite.
