What does code p1694 mean for a 1998 Jeep Cherokee?

Code P1694 for a 1998 Jeep Cherokee typically indicates a communication issue between the engine control module (ECM) and the transmission control module (TCM). This can result from a faulty wiring connection, a bad sensor, or issues with the modules themselves. It's important to inspect the wiring harness and connectors for damage and to check the modules for proper functionality. Addressing this issue may involve repairing wiring or replacing faulty components.

1999 Jeep Cherokee quit running and am getting a code that says no buS. Engine will not start Fuel pump wont come on and gauges don't work. I replaced ECM and it did not help. Now What?

Found the problem. OBDII gave me a fault code. P1694. It was the Crankshaft Position Sensor. The sensor was shorting out which caused the gauges to not function.
