What is the problem when the clock works and stereo is on in 2000 Toyota Echo but radio does not work?

Most likely a short in the speaker wiring which is common for this car, check your trunk! Cargo can easily hit the speaker (top of trunk space) and break off a wire, creating a short, and disabling the car radio. You can either repair or replace a damaged speaker, or just neatly trim the severed wiring and wrap with electrical tape to get the radio working again but without one (or both) rear speakers.
