What would cause brake lights to not work on a 95 Jimmy but the third brake light works just fine and tail light bulbs are not blown and turn signals work as well?

Check around the trailer connector for a short; plus under the bumper is a harness that splits off the taillights so take a circuit tester and check for shorts here also. turn signal switch assembly worn out try another one third light is not wired throguh this switch but the two brake lights are the switch cancels the brakes for turn signals and hazards, it wears out eventually
