If you have a radio like most people it is using the electricity from your outlet. When you unplug it, you disconnect it from the electricity and it cannot function. Unless your radio uses unicorn tears to run. In which case you are probably better off asking your local wizard.

the dash panel trim pops off using a gentle pull with your hands... first you want to turn the key to the on position and drop the shifter as low as you can go and drop the steering wheel low as well... pop the dash panel trim off by pulling all around with your hands. after you have it off, the radio has 2 clips on the side just pop the clips and pull the radio out.. unplug the 2 connections on the back of the radio and walah! there's your radio!
under tha steering colum there is a metal bar and above it is a little silver box. remove both and unplug the wires from that box and those will attach to your wire harness for your new radio. just run them up through to where the new radio will go. the factory radio will stay and the new one will go where the tape deck is. just did all that to my 1990 silverado
you can't do it yourself you have to get help from a pro
* Remove the ashtray and ashtray holder * Remove the radio and mounting plate screws and lower the radio and unplug the electrical connector and antenna lead then push the radio out of the dashboard

take the radio knobs off and remove the two nuts behind them, reach under the dash and remove two nuts from radio mounts on side of radio, unplug wiring and antenna, pull radio out from back of dash

Pull the dash panel off, it is held in with clips, simply pull gently until they all pop out one by one. Slide it up and off Then radio has screws holding it in, remove these, slide radio out until you can unplug the connections in the back.
Pop the front bezel off with a flat blade screwdriver (just prys right off) Then use a 7mm socket to remove the 2 bolts on either side of the radio and then it slides right out. Unplug the main harness, antenna, and ground and the radio is completely out.
You need to go to your local Volvo dealer to get the radio codes. Just unplug the entire radio/cd or cassette player and take it into the dealer. They can look up the radio id #'s and give you the unlock code
pop off the plastic bezel around the radio and you can access the bolts - remove bolts on radio - you will have to unplug several harnesses before removing -and easy job
Depending on wich Saturn its really easy just pop off the dash around the radio remove the screws take out your radio unplug the wires and buy a new radio w/ wiring harness and face plate.
you take it off so your radio cant get stolen. so if some1 broke into your car they cant ake the radio cuz it would be worthless
