Check to see that the receiver is getting the signal. Could be that there is a short in the system somewhere. For the answer to this and hundreds of other Jeep related questions, you might want to join an online Forum like JeepsUnlimited Forums or JeepForum (Google it!). They have huge data bases and hundreds of people there who drive the same vehicle, encountered the same issues and are qualified to help. Also, you don't need to join, you can use their search feature for the answers to many questions; but in order to ask a question you must be a member (join for Free!). Good Luck.
Have to go into body computer with DRB3 to disable horn honk when locking vehicle.
Sounds like the contacts are still touching some how. Take the keyless apart and spray electronics contact type spray on the contacts and the points where the battery connects to see if this will help. Are you using a brand battery or a cheap-o?
Use the key. The keyless remote only unlocks the doors and doesn't govern how you start the car. If you can't get in the car, try using the ignition key for the door. Sometimes the two are keyed the same. Otherwise, you're going to have to get a new keyfob.
Above your rearview mirror there should be a small black 'ball' (extending from the roof of the car). That is your module. If it's not there, I'm not sure if your Jeep has it. You can always refer to the owner's manual (you can snag one from eBay cheap if you don't already have it) or drop by your Jeep dealership to have them find out for you. Hope this helps!
replace the remote
Check the batteries in the remote with a volt meter.
The positive ( + ) side of the batteries faces down
the dealer does it with a scan tool
I have just replaced some batteries in my 2001 ml 320 keyless remote and its not activating my security system. How do I get the remote to work again? Please help!!!
The keypad doesn't take batteries , the remote takes a battery or batteries
find the knotch in the remote and insert a dime and twist
I had the same problem. Google "keyless entry remote 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee".
Each remote takes ( 2 ) # 2016 batteries , they are coin style 3 volt lithium batteries
Try SPASTICPUPPY.NET.
The batteries may be dead on the remote.
Possible weak battery in the remote.
You have to program it with a DRB (Scan tool).
