If they do not want to come off easy, and you cannot slack the brakes via the adjuster from behind the back plate, then a 5 lb hammer will do. Just keep banging all around the drum front, sides, and turn the drum backwards at the same time. This is the only way. Might take some time.

I assume that this is drum brakes. The hardest part is to remove the drums. Sometimes trying to release the tension on the brakes thru the adjusting hole in the back plate helps if possible, if not, then a small 5 lb hammer and banging on the face of the drum and on the sides will knock it loose. Turn the drum backwards as you bang it. Once the drum is off, you should have a brake pliers tool, this will help to remove the springs. It is also a good thing to replace the old springs with a new spring kit. The kit comes complete. Once these springs are used too much they get weak and may cause wheel lock up on front wheel drive auto's. And, in today's tech. take a picture of the brake set up so as to assemble it easier. Also a good thing to replace the drums or have them turned.
YES Some were all wheel drive. Allthough both front & rear are limited slip, & the rear only if the front wheels are spinning.

To remove the rear brake drums on a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, first ensure the vehicle is safely lifted and supported on jack stands. Remove the wheel and tire, then locate the brake drum. If the drum is stuck, tap around the edges with a hammer to loosen it, and if necessary, remove the adjuster access plug to back off the brake shoes. Finally, slide the drum off the wheel hub.

brake drums should pull off if not rusted on.
The rear brakes on a 1989 jeep should be self adjusting. Tear the drums off and fix the seized or broken hardware.
There's probably two holes other than the screws that hold the drum on. If you can find a bolt long enough with the proper thread, you can screw them in to push the drum off, that's what I had to do.
Brake drums are not attached with fasteners, they just pull off once wheel is out of the way.
Remove the wheel and tap the drums at back with a 'deadblow' hammer, rotating the drum as you do this. The brake shoes tend to hold drums on.
Jack up, remove rear wheel, remove emergency brake cable, loosen bleeder valve and bleed as normal.
Raise the vehicle, support it securely on jack stands. Remove the rear wheels. Hit the drums a few times with a heavy hammer around the outside edge. Pull the drums outward. If they are stuck, hit them harder.
