Answer: Spanish is spoken in all of Latin America (excluding Brasil and Belize), much of the Carribean, by a growing Hispanic community in the United States, and in Spain. French is spoken in Québec, New Brunswick, northern Maine, Louisiana, much of the Carribean, many Pacific islands, France, Belgium, Switzerland, dozens of countries in Africa, southwest Asia, and in Lebanon and Syria. French was the lingua franca of the world before English and some believe Spanish will be the next lingua franca. Bot languages are probably the most useful languages in the world after English so you can't go wrong with either of them.

french and spanish ;) French was the traditional first 'second' language for British people to learn, partly because France is just across the English Channel, also because French was the international language of diplomacy. Logically it might be better to learn Spanish, because there are more Spanish speakers in thec world. There is not an absolute answer to a question like that, it depends on the use you might get from either language.

The thing is, if you learn French first, it will be harder than Spanish but it is quite similar to Spanish so it will be a bit easier than if you were starting from scratch. I learned Spanish and then French which is a bit easier than starting from scratch once again. It depends whether you want to learn both or just the one and if it is just one out of those two, go for spanish as it is more fun to learn and is a lot easier.

Alternate answer:

Both French and Spanish are Romance languages so both languages have similar words which can get confusing because the words don't always mean the same thing in both languages.

While I was in high school I took the equivalent of four years of French and one year of Spanish. My teacher remarked that I learned the Spanish remarkably well but I was speaking Spanish with a French accent. Watch out for that! :) Personally, I found French very easy to learn although some of the accents you have to use are a little tougher to formulate than the accents you use in Spanish. Learning one Romance langauge first and then learning another makes life a little easier because you have already learned the tenses, parts of speech, etc. involved. I can't say which one is easier to learn because I'm biased and also because that is a matter of opinion. Most people I know think Spanish is easier to learn than French. If you live in the U.S., learning Spanish is more practical because we have a high population of Spanish speaking peoples.

What language is harder Spanish or French?

Difficulty in learning a language is subjective and can depend on an individual's background and learning style. However, some people find French harder due to its verb conjugations, silent letters, and complex pronunciation rules compared to Spanish, which has more regular verb conjugations and phonetic spelling. Ultimately, both languages can be challenging but rewarding to learn.

Which Is Harder to learn after taking spanish and learning nothing... French or Spanish?

Learning French would likely be harder after taking Spanish and learning nothing, as the two languages are more similar in vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure. Starting with a completely new language like French could present more challenges due to unfamiliarity with the language's nuances.
