The word Hindu came from the word Sindhu which meant those who lived on the other side of the Indus river. The Persian pronounced the Sindhu as Hindus, and all people living on the other side of the river Sindhu were called by them as Hindus.
This is also the place that the religious belief of reincarnation started. The Religion was named after the region it originated from just as Judaism is named after the region it originated from.
Websters defines it as a native or inhabitant of India, but I disagree and would say that that would be an Indian, not a Hindu. It also says that a Hindu is a follower of Hinduism, but the name Hinduism came after Hindu so I am not in full agreement with that either. I would say it doesn't really have a definition that isn't circular so it can't really be defined.

There are two major symbols in Hinduism (or Sanatan Dharma): One is the symbol OM and the other is Swastika. Please specify which symbol you want information on.
Hinduism has no special symbol for 'karma'. However, in buddhism, the 'wheel' is the symbol of karma.
'AUM' or 'OM' (pranava) is the most pronounced sacred symbol which means "the essence of entire universe".
By "Hinduism Symbol" I am assuming that you mean the sacred Aum sound, which is found in many Hindu prayers, religious texts, as well as meditation methods. It is also a sacred mantra in other Dharmic religions such as Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism, but originated from the Rig-Veda which forms the backbone of modern Hindu culture and practices.
