There are many reasons why people end up homeless. In some cases they have a drug or drinking problem and this stops them from succeeding in work or family. Others have a mental illness and the system can't take care of them. In the 1960's and 70's in CA Gov. Ronald Reagan closed all the mental health centers putting thousands on the streets. This helped create the CA homeless problems. Some are families who are out of work and couldn't maintain the house and bills so they are homeless. There are 25 million homeless children in the United States and this should be a concern for everyone. Many of these children move from school to school which means they do not get a complete education and lag in skills. This will effect them the rest of their lives creating more homeless. The condition of being homeless by many people is not their choice ( some do choose to be homeless) and the vast majority need help.
