Check your battery. You may have one with a dead cell. You may need one with more amperage. If that is not it, there may be something wrong with your electrical system but it is probably a battery either going bad or too small.
How to replace thermostat on a cavalier 97?
To change the thermostat you must follow the lower radiator hose from the radiator to the "Y" shaped housing. To locate this housing stand in front of the vehicle, look directly down and to the left of the engine front.. it is pretty easily seen. it is above the ac/compressor. and in front of the water pump. All you need to do is remove the 2 bolts that hold the housing together, then separate the housing, pull the old thermostat out and clean the matting surfaces of the housing before you install new stat and gasket. After this, put stat in where you took it out... put new gasket on.. connect the two halves and tighten bolts... Job finished.
Could map sensor cause 94 cavalier to die then not start?
Map sensors can do some strange things. Most of the time the "limp home" mode will allow the car to run even if it does go bad. AutoZone will test that Map sensor for free. It will at least give you a place to start. There are several things that could cause your problem. Is the "check engine" light on?? yes the check engine light came on.
Ok....If you know how to do it, you can pull the codes yourself. The diagnostic link is mounted right next to the fuse box...just to the right of it. Mine is mounted verticle. There are two rows in the plug in. The upper two on the left row can be jumped. If yours is mounted horizontally, it's the upper row, right two. Take a paper clip or any type of small wire and insert each end into those two. Now, turn on the key....but do not start it. The check engine light will start to flash. The first code should be flash....pause flash flash. That would be a 12. That is just showing the ECM is in diagnostic mode. Each code flashes 3 or 4 times. Write them down. You can look up what the codes mean on the net or most any parts store can tell you. It's not as precise as the newer OBDII cars, but it will give you a place to start looking.....Hope that helps.

Can a z24 1990 motor swap 2.8 to 3800 what has to be changed to do so tranny computer and wiring?
it would be a really hard swap to go from the 2.8 to a 3.8. one the 2.8 is a 60 degree motor and the 3.8 is a 90. i am going to swap the 2.8 for a 3.4 because as far as power the 3.8 isn't much more powerful than the 3.4 and the 3.4 is a very straight forward swap almost everything is interchangeable.
1989 Z24 vacuum leak somewhere causing the engine to idle too fast?
if u'v opened the idle compensator on top of ur carb check for leak there
check the carb seat gasket for cracks and check bottom screws some of them will leak if they're not tight enough
best answer is take it to a brake shop it's not something that should put your life on the line for. but if you have to do it you will need a Chevy brake tool or an Allen wrench to remove the calipers then its simple to switch out pads. drums again I recomend a shop.

How long does it take to change a fuel pump in a 1998 Chevy cavalier?
I would say a whole day, considering you have to drop the fuel tank, find enough space to drop the tank, and then get it back up there. Not a fun job to do.
Why do you have no heat yet the engine is warm in your 1994 Chevy cavalier?
There are several reasons why this might occur. If your fluid level is low, your engine will not circulate enough antifreeze to fill your heater core ( which usually leads to your engine overheating, but not always if you are just borderline low), if your heater core is plugged (most common) or if you have a sealed system and there is air in the system which prevents your liquidfrom running through the heater core. The most likely cause is a bad heater core which is bad news because it is hard to access, therefor hard to replace.
