I met David in Las Cruces On April 1. He and his wife have used 150 days to drive from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia Argentina to Las Cruces New Mexico. Obviously, not straight through. He told me he has traveled about 18,000 miles, but they started in Buenos Aires, drove south to Ushuaia and started from there.

If you read the blog, you will see that they started on November 22, 2007 from Ushuaia. Argentina. That is about 4.5 months to Las Cruces, New Mexico (USA). David believes that in 2.5 months he will be in Fairbanks, Alaska. Google says that it is about 3800 miles. So, I think you can see the do not plan to rush.

The route is different from David's and the direction goes north to south, they will ride bicycles, and they don't start until June 2008. However, the link shows each leg of the planned trip and the miles.

provides a map of a trip from 2000 to 2003. They wondered around the U.S. so this does not get to the heart of your question. Nevertheless, you get some documentation about the total miles and can cut out the portions that you are not interested in.

To summarize, let's say that you will drive 18,000 miles and average 300 miles a day. In theory, you would have it done in 60 days. But, don't forget to stop and smell the roses.

Colorado suffers from an abundance or religious zealots, Alaska has bugs in abundance, for bigger fish and Bridges to nowhere select Alaska. Both States suffer serious deficiences. Both contain beauty in abundance, and both are a joy to live in.

It is believed that the earliest native inhabitants of what is now Alaska were the Thule people - who spread from there to the east and are believed to be the ancestors of all the Inuit peoples from Alaska to Greenland.
