Absolutely. Some people confuse empathic abilities with being clairvoyant but they aren't the same.

However many empaths are clairvoyant and vice versa.

Being an empath means going beyond just having empathy which is to understand that other's have emotions and feel sympathy or compassion for them, but you don't necessarily have to "feel" what they are feeling in order to have empathy.

An empath FEELS what others feel and often has a difficult time separating the "other" from themselves which can lead to a lot of confusion, pain and even feeling quite crazy at times.

the most understood meaning of empath is of an emotional empath, and most of the time when people discuss being an empath they are meaning emotional empath.

An emotional empath feels deeply the emotions of others.

A physical empath feels what others are feeling in their bodies, pain, fatigue other sensations.

A mental empath actually can practically hear someone else's thoughts.

According to Rose Rosetree there are as many at 15 different types of empaths.

Wikipedia defines Clairvoyance - The term clairvoyance(from French clair meaning "clear" and voyancemeaning "vision") is used to refer to the ability to gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the known human senses, a form of extrasensory perception. A person said to have the ability of clairvoyance is referred to as a clairvoyant ("one who sees clearly").

So definitely an empath would be considered clairvoyant in that definition in that they gain information through means other than their 5 senses. However, most people discussing clairvoyance are talking about an ability to see into either the past or future - which isn't related to being an empath.

But I know many empaths who are also clairvoyants - and I, myself fit into both categories, I am also a gemstone empath (feeling the energy of crystals and stones).

Unfortunately most of us go through our lives being convinced that just because most people don't feel the same way that there's something wrong with us, or that we're crazy and that WE NEED TO BE THE ONES TO CHANGE. That sure isn't helped by all the people out there who think we are crazy. I struggled with this for over 40 years.

I was so relieved when I discovered that I truly was absorbing the emotions and even physical pain from other people. I couldn't figure out why I was upset because it wasn't my upset, it was my mother's, my friends, etc. I spent a good deal of time shut in my room away from the chaos in a house with 4 kids, a sick and sometimes overly emotional mother (also an empath I know now) and the 7 kids she baby sat in our house. It was too much for me to take. I needed quiet and peace to even be able to function in the world.

Often when one's energy field is open to outside information a lot of differing psychic, spiritual or paranormal abilities also come into play. What I do know is that we are all so unique that the combinations of abilities that people have can be extremely varied. The biggest mistake you can make is to compare your abilities to someone else's. If you have abilities, learn to understand and use them responsibly and enjoy what you have.
