How far is the 3 point line in high school basketball?
The High School 3 point line is located exactly 6 feet behind the free throw line.
NCAA adds 1 foot to that distance; in some cases, you may see the old and new line spaced 1 foot apart, and in contrasting a color, finally in the NBA the 3 point line is located 23 feet 9 inches or 4 feet directly in back of the free throw line. All of these 3 point lines radiate from the center of the goal to the out side of the arc.

The game is a contest between two teams that play against each other. The team objective is to shoot the ball into the metal hoop or basket. The hoop or goal is ten feet from the floor.
A team has three positions. There is one center per team and plays at the post position, the area ten feet within the basket. The middle area is referred to the wing area and this is the where the forward plays. There are two forwards per team. There are two guards per team. The guard play at the top of the key.
The key is the area that reaches twenty feet from the baseline of the court. The players who have control of the ball are said to be on the offensive. The team without control of the ball is said to be on the defensive. The offensive team tries to shoot the ball into the hoop, also known as scoring, while the defensive team's objective is to try to keep the offense from scoring.
The offensive team, by putting the basketball into the hoop, can score one point, two points, or three points. The offense will score one point by scoring on a free shot or free throw. The free shot is given to an offensive player who was fouled by a defensive player.
The player on defense fouls the offense player by pushing, hitting, or otherwise coming into contact with the offense player. The charity shot is allowed to a player who can shoot at the basket without being contested. The offensive player who is fouled will receive two charity throws each time he or she is fouled.
The team will receive two points if the team shoots the ball into the hoop from within the three point line. If an offensive player puts the basketball in the hoop from outside the three point line he or she will score three points for his team. The team with the most points at the end of basketball games wins. Basketball is very easy to learn and fun to watch. The game is growing in popularity everyday.

What is the best way to learn to shoot a basketball?
The best answer is to just keep practicing. Practice will help you learn.
Continue practicing. Keep shooting and shooting until you make them 50% or more of the time. If you want to have great shooting form. I suggest watching J.J. Redick's games. He has great shooting form. Most of the college basketball players have good shooting form, watch 'em and learn! A good shooter's shot is always "right on line", i.e. if it misses, it either misses long or short, and never off to the right or left (from the shooter's viewpoint). The easiest way to accomplish this is by positioning your arms and the rest of the body so that the main shooting force is aimed directly at the basket. Leaning directly into (forward) or away from (180 degrees/opposed), or walking toward (when allowed) the basket can often help/solve aim problems. Even if the shot is aimed properly, however, you still need to balance the arc (or height) and force of the shot when you release it. Too much arc will increase the difficulty of the shot, and decrease the margin for error. However, too little arc increases the chances of the defender blocking your shot. Too little arc and too much force will combine and cause the shot to clang off the front of the rim or backboard. Inadequate force will cause your shot to fall short. Usually, rotation (backspin) on the ball improves the chances of a marginal shot going in. But, excessive rotation reduces the chance of a completed shot attempt.
