Yes. Smoking even half a cigarette per day is symptomatic of an addiction to nicotine, which is considered to be one of the most addicting substances in the history of the world. The fact that a daily amount, no matter how large or small, is being regularly used qualifies as an addiction, which by definition is a habit that someone is a slave to. It depends how long this has been going on. More than likely you are physically addicted. Try quitting and see if you have any withdrawal symptoms. However, I disagree with the above answer. Daily use is often indicative of an addictions problem but in itself does not mean that one is addicted. Dependence requires 3 of the following conditions to be true:
1) tolerance (a need for more for same effect / diminished effect with same amount) 2) withdrawal (physical or psychological), substance is taken in larger amounts or over a longer period of time than intended
3) persistent desire or unsuccessful attempts to cut down or control use
4) a great deal of time is spent in activities necessary to obtain, use, and/or recover from its effects,
5) important social, occupational, or recreational activities are given up or reduced due to use, and
6) continued use despite knowledge of the substance exacerbating a current physical or psychological problem. It is possible that someone intends to smoke this many per day, can quit without any withdrawal symptoms when they want to, do not give up any activities because of smoking, and do not feel the urge to use more due to a lessened effect. This would not be probable though, given the addictive nature of nicotine, but I have met people that have smoked roughly this amount for a period (i.e a few weeks to a couple months) that do not meet these criteria and quit when they simply become bored with it.

In the study "Mortality Within the First 2 Years in Infants Exposed to Cocaine, Opiate, or Cannabinoid During Gestation",the "cannabis only" babies had a mortality rate LOWER than "no-drug" infants! Not one "cannabis only" babies died! In contrast, 26 of the "no drugs" babies died.
A lady named Jen Alexander did a wonderful in depth (and readable) article on the "Mortality" study -"Pregnant Women Smoking Pot Could Reduce Infant Mortality". However, I really think using a vaporizer, or edibles, would be far wiser! Smoking carries with it carbon monoxide and other combustion "nasties"- vaporizing or edibles would be much safer both for Mom and the baby.
