actually a shark is a fish, you might be confusing a whale which is a mammal which like all mammals among 9 other mamalian traits live-birth its young, sharks lay eggs making them 100% a fish. a mussell however giving or non-shell-fish (ha!) it is, is in fact as you say, not a fish.
