Are Black Ghost Knife Fish Aggressive?
I'm not an "expert" on BGK but I have had one for almost 4 years now and I can say with great certainty that they are quite friendly with other larger fish. Mine lives with 2 large angelfish, a tiger barb fish a couple of bottom feeders and a plecostomus algae eater. All are healthy and happy and alive. However, I did make the mistake a while back when I purchased several guppies (cute colorful small fishes) and within a few days they had all disappeared. So yes the BGK did kill them but I think they were mistaken for lunch. Basically if the fish is small enough to be eaten by the other fish then it would be unwise to put them in the tank. The BGK has a deceptively large mouth. Also they can be aggressive when placed with other BGK or fish within that Knifefish family. In that case they should be separated in separate tanks. If the tank is big enough (has to pretty large) where the 2 knifefish's can each claim their own territory then it might not be so bad but still probably unwise. I have read that it can be done. Also, because they rely on their built in radar to find their food, having another similar fish can make it difficult for them to find the food (something about frequency being jammed or something to that effect). Makes it harder for them to locate their food.
Depending on the size of your koi, you will need to choose an appropriately sized food. Buy food based on the size of the smallest koi in your pond, otherwise your larger fish will be at an advantage during feeding time. You will want to buy a mix of smaller and larger pellets.
Other than pellet foods, koi love to eat live food like earthworms, prawns, and tadpoles. They also love fresh produce like lettuce, watermelon, oranges, and lemons.
How soon can I put fish in my new pond?
It is recommended to wait at least 2-3 weeks before adding fish to a new pond. This allows time for the pond's ecosystem to establish and stabilize, ensuring a more hospitable environment for the fish to thrive. Additionally, regularly monitoring water quality parameters such as ammonia, nitrite, and pH levels is crucial before introducing fish.

Yes, fish are ectothermic, which means their body temperature is determined by the temperature of their surrounding environment. They cannot regulate their own body temperature internally like endothermic animals can.
the Paroon Shark. It is a catfish that lives in the Mekong River in Vietnam. It is considered a food fish, but most Vietnamese feel it's not tasty, largely because it likes to eat dogs. It's also ugly--not chacid ugly, but definitely not a thing of beauty either. You can probably buy a paroon shark for ten dollars. What makes it expensive is its living habits and sheer size. The paroon shark is a shoaling fish that spawns at 100 inches in length--and is full grown at 120 inches in length. How do you keep such a beast? Easy! Just move to California and dig a two-acre koi pond that's heavily planted and filled with large structures for cover--old apple juice barrels with both ends removed would work. You feed them by cutting a deal with the local animal control office to bring you roadkill. (You don't want the euthanized pets--the drugs they use to kill the pets would kill your fishes.) And make sure to fence the area off, because paroon sharks have foot-long spines that can kill a man sticking out both sides of their heads. And so, because of the logistics of maintaining this animal, I declare the Paroon Shark the world's most expensive fish.
Are fish heterotrophic organisms?
Yes, fish are heterotrophic organisms because they cannot produce their own food through photosynthesis. They rely on consuming other organisms or organic matter to obtain the energy and nutrients they need to survive.
Yes, but they have a closed circulatory system (their hearts have only two valves) and gills instead of lungs.

What is the best kind of fish for 30 gallon aquarium?
Your choice, check out your local pet store to see what you like. Check with the staff if you have any compatibility questions regarding putting different groups of fish together. If this is your first tank, start with a few community fish. A 30 gallon tank is a good size, easy to maintain, and large enough to enjoy many different fish. I started out with 2 - 30 gallon tanks, I've kept one tank with all different types of tetras (bleeding heart, glo-lite, neon, serpae, headlight/taillight, etc.) for over 20 years. Good luck.

This is a question I would not usually answer. LOL
My family just came back from the east coast and did a tour where they showed us the Herring traps they use to gather scales for cosmetics. The fish are not harmed, they go through a pump system on the boat that loosens scales (they regrow them) and then they release the herring back to the ocean.
The scales are used for glossy and sparkled lipstick and nail polish as they have substance called Pearl Essence.
